Douglas J. Wells

Douglas has been an attorney for over thirty years, admitted to practice in the courts of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and the United States District Courts of Connecticut. The first five years of his legal career were spent as a prosecutor in the District Attorney's Office of Suffolk County and Plymouth County, Massachusetts, where he litigated more than one hundred criminal trials, securing convictions for those charged with murder, rape, robbery, arson and other serious felonies.
Currently, Douglas concentrates his practice in the area of criminal defense, including DWI and motor vehicle charges. He also litigates divorce and family law matters, including legal separation, child custody & visitation, paternity and parental rights proceedings.Out of the courtroom setting, Douglas negotiates prenuptial agreements and serves as a mediator in reaching separation agreements between divorcing spouses.
Douglas also handles probate court matters, including estate administration, will contests, paternity and adoption proceedings. He helps clients plan their estates with wills, trusts, durable powers of attorney, and living wills.
Douglas is actively involved in his community. He serves on the Board of the Indian Harbor District as Chair of the Legal Committee, and is a District 2 member of the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting, serving as Chair of the Legislative & Rules Committee since 1998.
Douglas is a member of American Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, Fairfield County Bar Association, and Greenwich Bar Association, and serves as a Special Master for the Stamford Superior Court.
